I have had the unlucky fortune this past week to be a bachelor. Usually the wife and I go every where and do everything together, but she got the opportunity to go on a cruise with her family and I told her to go. Seeing as she loves going on cruises it was the only logical choice. Why did I not go, you may ask? Well her Dad back out of the cruise and there was only one spot available. I am in no way bitter about this. I am glad she went and glad she is having fun. I just completely forgot how much being a bachelor truly sucked!
When you get married it doesn't really matter if you go out or stay in. I am completely happy sitting on the couch as long as my wife is right there beside me. If we go out to eat and see a movie I am completely happy cause my wife is right there beside me. Well since she left I have had to work to find something to keep me occupied. That is pretty difficult seeing as once you get married all your friends seem to be married as well. So forget hanging out with any of them. Hey look, I'm the third wheel! Nothing is worse than feeling like you are intruding on someone else's life. Then comes the intense search through your contacts and Facebook friends to see who is still single or not doing anything or not on a summer vacation. Which usually leaves you with bupkis. Most of them don't wanna hang out with an old fuddy duddy that goes to bed at 10 every night. What they don't know is that I can't sleep when my wife is not around, so I stay up till all ungodly hours of the night that no one else knows exist. That will show them!
So what did I do all week? Well, I played heinous amounts of Xbox and watched a ton of movies. Of course I had to go to work too, but that is expected. I did end up going out 2 nights at the beginning of the week with one friend I hadn't seen in a while and two great guys I met through Twitter. So now I sit at home and wait for my lovely bride to get back. I am counting down the hours till she gets back.
In short, I never want to have to do this again. Unfortunately in about a month, I actually will because she is a camp counselor for when the youth of our church go to camp. That means I will probably repost this when that week comes around. Also, if you are reading this, feel free to contact me that week and we can have dinner or something.
